Heating, Hot Water, Pool
One Installer for Pool, Jacuzzi, Hot Water and Home
A heat pump moves heat from the outside air instead of generating it with an electric element, so it delivers several kWh of heat for every kWh of electricity it uses. With mild winters and long sunny seasons, the Costa del Sol is one of the best places to use one to heat a pool, a jacuzzi, your hot water and your home.
KiDi Solar surveys the property, sizes the unit for your actual pool or home, installs it together with the electrical supply and controls, and can power it from your solar panels. You get a quote for the equipment you need, not a standard package.
Service highlights
- Pool, jacuzzi, domestic hot water and home heating
- Unit sized to your pool volume, cover, exposure and season
- Electrical supply, protections and controls included in the design
- Villas, homes, communities and commercial properties across the Costa del Sol
Why a Heat Pump on the Costa del Sol
Mild winters mean the air holds plenty of heat for most of the year, so a heat pump can keep a pool comfortable well beyond the summer and supply hot water all year while using a fraction of the electricity of an electric heater. Efficiency falls on the coldest nights, which is why correct sizing and a pool cover matter. Read our guide to heat pumps and solar panels.
What’s Included
What a Heat Pump Installation Includes
We handle the whole job, from the first survey to commissioning: the heat pump itself, the hydraulic connections to your pool, tank or heating circuit, the electrical supply and protections, and the controls. We size the unit from your pool volume or your home and hot-water demand, and quote it individually after a survey.
Equipment & installation
- Heat pump sized for your pool, jacuzzi, hot-water tank or heating circuit
- Pipework, isolation valves and hydraulic connections
- Dedicated electrical supply, cabling and protections
- Controller, with a timer or solar-surplus control where relevant
- Commissioning: flow, temperature settings and a test run
Operation & care
- Annual check recommended, with the filter and evaporator kept clean
- Set the pool, jacuzzi and hot-water temperatures yourself with simple controls
- Running cost estimated for your property before you decide
- A pool cover is recommended to keep the heat in
- Works with new pools and with existing pools, tanks and heating systems
Pool, Jacuzzi, Hot Water and Home: What We Install
Pool and jacuzzi: an air-to-water pool heat pump heats the circulating water to the temperature you choose, usually 27–29 °C for a pool. We size it from the volume of water, whether you have a cover, how exposed the pool is and how long you want the swimming season to be. For a jacuzzi we check the volume, insulation and cover, and choose a suitable compact unit or a connection to the pool plant.
Hot water and home heating: an air-to-water heat pump (aerotermia) can supply domestic hot water through a storage tank and, depending on the system, underfloor heating, fan coils or radiators, and cooling in summer. We check heat loss, existing radiators, the outdoor unit location and your electrical supply before recommending a system.
Heat Pump Installation Cost
Every property is different, so we prepare an individual quote after a survey. The price depends mainly on:
- Capacity: pool volume, home size or hot-water demand
- Brand and model, including inverter or on/off compressor
- Pipework length and distance to the plant room
- Electrical supply: phase, contracted power, cabling and protections
Send us your location, what you want to heat (pool, jacuzzi, hot water or home) and, if you can, the pool size or a photo of the existing equipment, and we will arrange a free survey. Get a free quote or call +34 677 307 907.
How We Size a Heat Pump for Your Pool
A common starting point for a pool heat pump is about 0.3 kW of heating output for every cubic metre of water. It is only a rule of thumb: a cover, shelter from the wind, a lower target temperature or a short season reduce the size you need, while a shaded or exposed pool and year-round use increase it.
| Pool volume | Starting point for heat pump output |
|---|---|
| 30 m³ | about 9 kW |
| 40 m³ | about 12 kW |
| 50 m³ | about 15 kW |
| 60 m³ | about 18 kW |
| 80 m³ | about 24 kW |
Most owners aim for a water temperature of 27–29 °C. At the survey we confirm the pool volume, check the cover and exposure, and choose between an inverter model, which adjusts its output to the demand and is typically cheaper to run, and a simpler on/off unit.
Swimming Season
Longer Season
A heat pump together with a pool cover can extend the comfortable swimming season well beyond the summer on the Costa del Sol.
Running Costs
Efficient Heating
Heat pumps deliver several units of heat for each unit of electricity, so they typically cost far less to run than electric resistance heaters.
Comfort All Year
Hot Water & Heating
Depending on the system chosen, the same outdoor unit can supply domestic hot water, heating and cooling for the home.

FAQ
Heat Pump Questions Answered
The price is quoted individually after a survey. It depends on the capacity needed (pool volume, home size or hot-water demand), the brand and model, the pipework length and the electrical work required. A free survey gives you a written quote for your property.
A common rule of thumb is about 0.3 kW of heating output per cubic metre of pool water, so a 40 m³ pool starts at roughly 12 kW. A cover, shelter from wind and a shorter season reduce the size you need; an exposed or shaded pool and year-round use increase it. We confirm the size at the survey.
Usually they are separate units, because a pool needs a large flow of warm water while domestic hot water needs a hotter storage tank. Some air-to-water systems can serve heating, hot water and a pool depending on the model and capacity. We confirm what is possible for your property at the survey.
Yes. A jacuzzi holds much less water than a pool, so it needs a smaller unit, or it can be connected to the pool plant. We check the volume, insulation and cover before recommending a solution.
It depends on the pool size, target temperature, cover, hours of use and your electricity tariff. A heat pump typically delivers around three to five kWh of heat per kWh of electricity, more in mild weather and less on cold nights. We estimate the running cost for your property, and our pool heating cost comparison shows the options side by side.
Yes. Winters are mild, so the air still holds usable heat, but efficiency falls as the air gets colder and the unit needs defrost cycles. A cover and correct sizing keep the pool comfortable and the running cost under control.
Yes. Scheduling the heat pump and pool filtration for the middle of the day lets your panels cover a share of the electricity, and a battery can carry part of the load into the evening. We can design the heat pump and the solar system together, or connect the heat pump to panels you already have.
Spain and Andalucía have programmes and tax deductions for some residential energy-efficiency works, but they usually have conditions such as habitual residence and an energy certificate, and they change from year to year. Pool heating is generally not covered. We do not process applications, so check the current rules with your tax adviser or gestor before relying on one.
It depends on the model. We check your phase (single or three-phase), contracted power, cable size and protections at the survey, because an undersized supply is a common cause of problems.
The unit needs good airflow, a stable base and a condensate drain, and should sit away from bedroom windows and neighbours. Noise depends on the model, and inverter units are generally quieter at part load. We choose the position at the survey.
