Questions 1 to 5
Who Does the Work, and Who Stands Behind It
Ask these first. The answers show how accountable the company is.
01
Do you use subcontractors?
Why it matters. When the company that sells the system is not the team that installs it, nobody on site answers to you directly, and quality depends on who was free that week. Ask who will be on your roof and who employs them.
How KiDi Solar answers. Our own employees carry out the installation. You deal with one company from the survey to commissioning.
02
Who stands behind the warranty in Spain?
Why it matters. A warranty on paper helps only if someone local handles the claim. Ask who you call, what each component is covered for, and what the installation work itself is covered for.
How KiDi Solar answers. Panels, inverters and batteries carry manufacturer warranties: panels up to 30 years, inverters and batteries 5 to 10 years, depending on the model. KiDi Solar gives 3 to 5 years on the installation and the mounting structure. The exact terms are in your quote.
03
Will the system be properly certified and registered?
Why it matters. Missing paperwork can cause problems with your insurer, your electricity retailer and a future sale of the property. Ask exactly which documents you receive at handover.
How KiDi Solar answers. We work turnkey: design, installation, the certificates after installation, and registration of the system. We do this for private houses, apartments in urbanizaciones, and fincas and other private land.
04
What type of battery do you install?
Why it matters. Battery chemistry affects safety and life. LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) is widely used in home storage for its thermal stability and long cycle life compared with other lithium chemistries. Ask for the chemistry, the usable capacity and the warranty in writing.
How KiDi Solar answers. We install LiFePO4 batteries. A 16 kWh battery starts from €2,200. See our battery storage page.
05
Will my system keep working when the grid goes down?
Why it matters. A standard grid-connected solar system switches off during a blackout by design. Power during an outage needs a hybrid inverter with a backup output, a battery, and a decision about which circuits stay on.
How KiDi Solar answers. We plan backup at the quote stage and tell you which circuits stay powered. Try our backup power calculator and read how backup power works.
Questions 6 to 10
What You Get, and What It Really Costs
Then check the details: price, equipment, schedule and payback.
06
What exactly is in the price, and what is not?
Why it matters. Two quotes with the same total can cover different things: mounting structure, cabling, protections, paperwork, a backup connection, scaffolding. Ask for every line.
How KiDi Solar answers. Our quotes are itemised line by line. See what that looks like in our sample quote.
07
Which brands and models, exactly?
Why it matters. “Premium panels” means nothing without a model name. Ask for the panel, inverter and battery models and read their datasheets.
How KiDi Solar answers. We install panels from AIKO, LONGi, JA Solar, Astronergy, Jinko and Trina, and inverters and batteries from Growatt, Huawei and Deye. Your quote names the exact models.
08
How long will the installation take?
Why it matters. A vague timeline often points to vague planning. Ask for the expected duration and what it depends on.
How KiDi Solar answers. Installation typically takes 4 to 10 days, depending on the size of the system and the property.
09
Have you installed on a property like mine?
Why it matters. A villa roof, an apartment in an urbanización with community rules and a finca away from the mains are different jobs. Ask for experience with your type of property.
How KiDi Solar answers. We install on private houses, apartments in urbanizaciones, and fincas and other private land across the Costa del Sol.
10
How is the payback calculated?
Why it matters. Payback depends on assumptions: electricity price, your consumption, orientation, how much of the solar energy you use yourself. Ask to see them.
How KiDi Solar answers. Our typical payback is about 3.5 years. It depends on your consumption and system, so we show our assumptions openly in our calculators, for example the air-conditioning and pool heating cost comparisons.
