The Process at a Glance
Here is how a KiDi Solar installation runs from the first enquiry to a working, registered system. Times are typical for the Costa del Sol and the rest of Andalucía, and depend on the size of the system (in kWp) and the type of property. In every case the same stages apply: survey, design, permits, installation of the panels, inverter and smart meter, then legalisation and registration.
| Stage | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Site visit after your enquiry | Same day or the next day |
| Written proposal, after we receive your electricity bill | 1–2 days |
| Preparing subsidy paperwork | 3–5 days |
| Installation of a typical system | 4–10 days |
| Certificates after the system is running | Usually 1–5 days; up to 2–3 weeks for a finca |
Case study: 60 panels in Sierra Blanca
Larger or more complex systems take longer. Our 60-panel installation in Sierra Blanca took 14 days, because the cable routing was difficult and ceilings had to be opened. You can read the details in that project.
Step by Step: How We Guide You
1. Request and visit
You send a request
Fill in the form or call us. We can visit the same day, or the next day.
Why: so we can visit quickly. From you: your contact details and the address.
We visit your home and measure the roof
We come to the property and measure the usable roof area, so the design starts from the real space available.
Why: the design starts from the real usable roof area. From you: access to the property and the roof.
2. Bill analysis and proposal
We analyse your electricity bill
From the bill we see how much energy you use and when. This decides how large the system should be.
Why: we look not only at the total but at when you use energy during the day, so the system fits your real consumption pattern. From you: a recent electricity bill.
We check the subsidies available for your location
Based on your municipality, we work out which incentives you may qualify for at the time you contact us, for example the IBI bonus, and prepare the paperwork. This takes about 3–5 days. Incentives depend on the municipality, the date and the call, so we confirm them case by case.
Why: so you know early what you may claim. From you: signatures on the documents where they are required.
We design the system
We size the system from your consumption and your roof. If your consumption is higher than the roof can cover, the roof sets the limit and we use as much of it as fits.
Why: to fit the right number of panels and avoid an oversized or undersized system. From you: nothing extra.
You receive a written proposal
Within 1–2 days of receiving your bill and details, you get a written estimate showing the price and what is included.
Why: so you can compare the price and what is included before you commit. From you: review it and ask us anything.
3. Contract and permits
Contract and first payment
You read our contract at your own pace. Once you agree, you make the first payment of 50–60% of the price, and we start the delivery of the mounting structure and panels.
Why: the first payment starts the delivery of the structure and panels. From you: read and sign the contract, make the first payment.
Permit and start notice
We obtain the permission from the town hall (ayuntamiento) and let it know when we start the installation.
Why: the installation needs the permission of the town hall. From you: nothing.
4. Installation
Installation (typically 4–10 days)
We install the mounting structure, then the panels, and connect the cabling. The station is earthed and the panels are bonded to each other. We run the cables to the inverter and build a separate protection board with fuses, a residual-current device (RCD) and surge protection. Then the inverter is connected to the grid, and a smart meter is fitted in your main board so the system can see where the energy flows.
Why: a correct structure, earthing and protection board make the system safe and long-lasting. From you: access to the property during the works.
5. Certificates and app
Commissioning and registration
Once the station is running, we submit the documents to the Junta de Andalucía (energy department) to obtain the certificates. This usually takes 1–5 days depending on the size of the system, and is fast for small systems of around 5–7 kW. For a finca, permission from the distribution company is needed separately and can take 2–3 weeks. That part does not depend on us.
Why: the certificates are needed to sell surplus energy. From you: nothing, apart from waiting for the distribution company if your property is a finca.
Certificates and selling your surplus
We hand you the certificates. You send them to your electricity company, and from then on you can sell surplus energy. The price depends on your contract. In our Sierra Blanca project the client sells at €0.06 per kWh.
Why: surplus energy is only paid once the certificates reach your electricity company. From you: send the certificates to your electricity company.
The app on your phone
We install the monitoring app on your phone. You see how much the system generates, how much your home uses and how much goes to the grid.
Why: you can follow generation, consumption and grid flow yourself. From you: log in to the app we set up.
Remote monitoring
We check the station remotely every month.
Why: so any drop in performance is noticed early. From you: nothing.

What Can Make a Project Take Longer
- Large systems. A 60-panel station takes longer than a typical home system.
- Cable routing. In finished houses the cables sometimes have to go through ceilings, which then need to be opened.
- Fincas. Permission from the distribution company is requested separately and can take 2–3 weeks.
We tell you about these at the proposal stage, so you know what to expect before you sign.
