KiDi Solar
Automatic Solar Panel Cleaning System on the Costa del Sol
An automatic rinse system that keeps solar panels clear of Saharan dust, pollen and salt, for new installations and for panels you already have: pipework and spray nozzles along the array, a connection to your mains water and a timer.

A Fixed System That Rinses Your Panels Every Week
Dust from the Sahara (calima), pollen and coastal salt settle on solar panels across the Costa del Sol. Research puts typical dust losses at 1.5–6.2% of annual output, and a study in Málaga measured more than 20% in long dry spells without rain. A short rinse every week stops dust from building up and caking onto the glass.
KiDi Solar designs and installs a fixed rinse system: a line of pipe along each row of panels, spray nozzles, a connection to your mains water with a filter that reduces chlorine and calcium, and a timer that runs the rinse on a schedule. It can be added to an existing array or planned together with a new installation. New from KiDi Solar in 2026: we are bringing automatic panel cleaning to the Costa del Sol as a standard option for new and existing systems, because a solar installation should do more than generate power and be inspected once a year.
Service highlights
- Pipework and spray nozzles along the panels
- Connection to your water supply, with a filter that reduces chlorine and calcium
- Timer for a weekly rinse, adjustable or pausable at any time
- For new installations and existing systems, homes, villas and commercial roofs
Why Rinsing Matters on the Costa del Sol
Long dry periods mean rain rarely cleans the glass, and light rain or dew can leave streaks instead of rinsing dust away. A weekly rinse removes fresh dust before it cakes on. We still recommend a thorough hand clean once or twice a year for what water alone cannot remove. Read our guide to Saharan dust and solar panels.
What’s Included
What the System Includes
It is a fixed installation, not a robot that travels over the panels: pipework runs along the rows and spray nozzles are fixed above the glass. We size it from the number of panels and the layout of your array, and quote it individually after a survey.

Hardware
- Pipework fixed along each row of panels
- Spray nozzles spaced to cover the glass at low pressure
- Connection to the mains water supply with a shut-off valve
- Filter that reduces chlorine and calcium, to prevent white mineral spots
- Timer with an adjustable schedule (night rinse, 3–6 am)
Operation & care
- Weekly rinse by default, adjusted to the season
- Schedule can be changed or paused, for example during water restrictions
- Water use calculated for your panel count and included in the quote
- Thorough hand clean once or twice a year recommended on top
- Works with new installations and with panels installed by others
Calima, Dust and Salt: How the Rinse Works
When calima settles, dust sits on the glass. The rinse runs at night, between 3 and 6 in the morning, when the panels have cooled down and before the sun heats them, so cold water never meets hot glass. A short, low-pressure spray lifts fresh dust off before it dries into a crust. It does not scrub the surface, so there is no contact or pressure on the panels.
Water quality matters. In many places the tap water is hard, and hard water can leave mineral spots as it dries. The system includes a filter that reduces chlorine and calcium in the water, so it does not leave white spots on the glass. We check your water at the survey and set the filter, spray pattern and schedule around it.
Automatic Solar Panel Cleaning System Cost
Every property is different, so we prepare an individual quote for each system. The price depends on:
- Number of panels
- Layout of the array and pipework length
- Distance to the water supply
- Water quality and filtration
Send us your location, the number of panels and, if you can, a photo of the roof, and we will prepare your quote. Get a free quote or call +34 677 307 907.
Maintain Solar Performance
Year-Round
A weekly rinse removes fresh dust before it builds up, helping the system make the best use of the available sunshine.

Long-Term Care
Keeping the glass clear of dust helps the system perform as designed. A thorough hand clean once or twice a year and regular inspection are still recommended.

FAQ
Automatic Cleaning Questions Answered
Weekly by default, at night between 3 and 6 in the morning when the panels have cooled. We adjust the schedule to the season and to how much dust there is, and you can change or pause it at any time.
No. A rinse removes fresh dust, but not bird droppings or stuck-on residue. We recommend a thorough hand clean once or twice a year on top of the automatic rinse.
Yes. It can be added along an existing array or planned together with a new installation, including on systems installed by other companies.
It depends on the number of panels and the schedule. We calculate the water use for your system and include it in the quote, so you can compare it with cleaning by hose.
In many places the tap water is hard and can leave mineral spots, so the system includes a filter that reduces chlorine and calcium. We also check your water at the survey and set the spray pattern around it. Water-use rules can tighten in dry years: the timer can be adjusted or paused whenever restrictions apply, and we check what applies in your municipality.
The price is quoted individually. It depends on the number of panels, the layout of the array, the pipework length, the distance to the water supply and the water quality.
